Cottage Weekend

Catherine and I ventured to Jacquie and Rob's family cottage this weekend for the cottage bash. I was worried that it wouldn't go well, but it went great!! It was about a 5 hour drive and we stopped once going there and coming home and Catherine did great in the car in between stops. She also slept really well at the cottage. Her morning naps were a bit shorter, but the afternoons ones were good and she slept really well at night. In fact she slept though us being rather loud on Saturday night while we were play cards in the cottage, that's amazing since the cottage is small and the wall don't go up to the roof and the doors to the rooms are curtains.

Here are some pictures from the weekend, I will post more once Jacquie posts her's on facebook!!

Growth Spurt

Well I think Catherine has gone through another growth spurt. The 0-3 month clothes that were just fitting are too small now and we only have a few 3-6 months clothes, leaving us with not many sleepers that fit her. I guess until I can get her some more I will be doing laundry more often. I hate when this happens because often she goes from the clothes fitting to the next night them being way too small.

Solids

Since we started Catherine on solids a few weeks ago, she can't seem to get enough. She is eating two meals a day now (breakfast and dinner) and so far she has had rice cereal, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, pears and plums. She will even tolerate sitting in her bumbo chair, which typically she hates, to eat her food!! I can't wait to start giving her more stuff and mixing foods, but for now I am just trying to add something new ever three days and get a feel of what she really likes and go from there.

That's it for now!!

Little Miss Muffet

Catherine and I spent the weekend alone because Jeff, his parents and my family were all away. Friday night we went to my Grammy's to have dinner with her husband and it was really night. Last night we went in to Toronto to friends of ours for a house party, but the rest of the time it was just Catherine and I. So needless to say the house is spotless clean and Catherine got lots of cuddles this weekend. Especially today as she was in a horrible mood and wanted to be held all day. Little did I know that it was because she was constipated. I finally realized what was wrong when she was laying on the ground where she normally plays grunting. So she got plums for dinner to get things moving and move they did. All I have to say is wow solids use changes the consistency of baby poo. Once she was all done, she had her bath and finally went down for her first nap of the day at 6:30 pm. She slept until 8 pm, ate and played with her dad and was back done by 9 pm. Poor little miss muffet, at least she is back to her old self again!!

She also tried pears for the first time yesterday morning and loved them right away!!

6 Month Update

Catherine is half a year old today!! She also ate some sweet potatoes twice today. I ended up mixing it half and half with rice cereal and milk and she loved it!!

So Catherine's stats this month are:

Length: 28 inches
Weight: 14 lbs 3 oz
Head Circumference: 17 inches

She's still trending super long and skinny. I figured that her growth might be up a bit since she started solids, but she only gained 5 oz this month.

Here is her 6 month pictures:

Sweet Potatoes

So we tried sweet potatoes last night. Catherine ate the first few bites, but that was all she would take, the rest she just kept spitting out. You can see how she did, but the video at the bottom of this post. Tonight I am going to try and mix the rice cereal and sweet potatoes and see how she does with that.

Baby Food

So we have decided that in order to save money, we are going to make Catherine's baby food. So this week I have made three batches of food carrots, butternut squash and sweet potatoes. I have yet to give her any, but making it is the first step. She has only eaten rice cereal so far. I have picked up some barley cereal, but I am unsure if I want to try that next or go with the carrots, butternut squash or sweet potatoes. Why does it have to be so hard to be a mom and make all these decisions?

New Layout

Ok, so I decided that since I set the blog up when I was pregnant and made it unisex since we didn't know what we were having that it was about time I made this blog a little more girly. So here it is, enjoy the new scenery!!

Two nights in a row now!!

So Catherine ate her rice cereal last night again. I'm so proud that my little girl is growing up and I can't wait to start making more different foods for her to eat. Another baby chapter int he life of Catherine begins.

Also last night we went to my cousins baby shower, she is 35.5 weeks pregnant and is so beautiful. I can't wait for her little man to get here so we can all meet him. She got tons of gifts and the shower was a blast, especially the food!!

We have a rice cereal earter on our hands!!

So last night because I was bored, I decided to try feeding Catherine rice cereal. As you can see from her 4 months photo's, the last try did not go over so well. I tried 3 nights in a row then and they all were fails. Twice was in her highchair, which
she kept sliding to one side in and once was in her Bumbo chair. So last night I decided to try mixing the rice cereal a different way and I tried feeding her in her bouncy chair as I had heard from a few people that that might work. Well it was a huge success!! She ate every last drop of the cereal and was even alternating between sucking her thumb and eating towards then end. I'm excited on one hand and sad on another, my little girl isn't so little anymore she eats real food now and not just breast milk :(

5 Month Update

Ok I suck as a blogger, I know. I'm a total procrastinator and it shows through in every aspect of my life. Well I am going to make an effort to make that better. I'm just taking baby steps, so it may not show here right away. Please bear with me!!

So Catherine's stats this month are:

Length: 26.5 inches
Weight: 13 lbs 13 oz
Head Circumference: 16.5 inches

So no real change in her growth pattern, still long and skinny. I wish I was long a skinny, alas it is not to be!! This month we have been busy as you will see from the photo's.

Here is her 5 month pictures:

Here she is having fun, being a ham:

Here are all the new things that she can do:
