BumGenius 3.0 Diaper Review
Ok, a follower asked that I review the many and I mean many cloth diapers that I had tried. So I am starting with the diaper that I used the longest. I will write what I thought of them and why and give them a star rating out of 5.
When I first got them I was so happy with these diapers. They fit my tall skinny baby and they were easy on and easy off. Laundry was fairly simply as well. About 2 months in to using them full time, the Velcro started to go (which is a huge issue with the BumGenius 3.0 diapers). So since I had heard that the Velcro fix kit caused the same problem down the road I decided to convert them to snaps. Well that was a huge overhaul and it took me about 2 months to do 22 diapers. Once there were converted life was much better. The whole time we used these diapers my daughter had a horrible rash, I tried everything and anything to get rid of it. Sometimes I could get it to almost go away and then it would flare up again. Well we finally figured out that she was allergic to the polyester in the pocket. So as much as I loved them and put so much work in to converting them to snaps, I had to sell them and move on.

Thankful Thursday
I am thankful that Jeff will be coming home tomorrow night, being alone with Catherine when were both sick is really hard work. Add that to the fact that our house is in construction and has drywall dust everywhere and I am miserable!
What are you thankful for?

Best Bottom Diapers are the best!
I have ordered quite a bit of cloth diapering stuff from Nicki’s Diapers and when I heard that the owner Nicki had created a cloth diaper system I knew I had to check it out.
So I waited and waited to see what others thought first. They were selling like hot cakes and I was becoming less and less happy about using prefolds and covers. So I took the plunge and ordered 8 covers – 4 in Vanilla, 2 in Mint Chocolate Chip and 2 in Moolicious, 24 inserts and 4 overnight inserts.
Well they came in today and I washed them right away and Catherine has the first one on (in Moolicious of course!) I love how they fit and how not bulky they are. The fact that they are not bulky is going to create a bit of a pant falling down problem for us (Catherine is a 12 to 18 month size in length, but she has a itty bitty waist), but its well worth it for a good cloth diaper.
I can’t wait until bedtime when we will get to try out the overnight inserts. I will update tomorrow on how it went!

House Hunting
Well since we will be moving sometime next spring Jeff and I have been busy trying to decide what we want in our next house. I think we have both decided that if we can we are going to make this our last move for a long long time.
I think we have also both decided that we want to buy new or buy and build.
We have been looking at Reid Heritage Homes up in Port Elgin and once I started looking at floor plans I feel in love with a house.
Its called the Kimberly III
Its the perfect size with 4 bedrooms up stairs, so we can have more children and still have space for visitors. The master bedroom has two walk in closets (so that Jeff can actually have a closet) and a wonderful luxury ensuite (I have decided that this is a must in our next house). The main floor is open concept in the great room, breakfast area and kitchen. Plus there is a dining room and an area for a formal living room, both things we do not have right now. I love that the laundry is on the main floor right by the garage entrance, that will come in handy with messy little people.
We still have to wait to see if we can qualify for a mortgage large enough for this house and if we can actually afford the mortgage payments on the house, so for now I will dream…

Thankful Thursday
Today I am thankful for my wonderful family. Without your help while Jeff is away I would not be able to continue to work and run our house.

Thankful Thursday
Today I am thankful that Catherine is a good sleeper. I wouldn’t be able to work night shifts if she didn’t nap so well during the day so that I can catch a nap with her.
I’m also thankful that she is starting preschool next Tuesday. I hope that she learns how to play nice with others and that she starts learning more words.

Couch to 5K
I have never been a runner. In fact I was told by my orthopaedic surgeon that I shouldn’t run. Well since having Catherine I had dabbled in jogging, mostly on the treadmill and a few times with her in the big trailer. I have enjoyed it and is hasn’t hurt my knees at all. Well summer hit and it got way to hot to even think about running, so I stopped.
I have been getting bored with my workouts lately and I haven’t been losing the weight I should be, so I decided to start the couch to 5K this week. So today was week 1 day 1, I ran for 60 seconds and walked for 90 seconds. I will do this twice more this week, hopefully on Wednesday and Friday.
Today I ran in the treadmill since its hot outside and Catherine has a fever and is unwell. It went fairly well. I made it though without stopping, but I wanted to stop because I kept getting a stitch in my side every time I ran and then it would go away when I walked. I had this problem in the past when I have been doing cardio, so I hope it was a one time thing and doesn’t keep happening.
On top of the couch to 5K, I am also going to do weights three times a week for 30 minutes.
I hope this will be the change I need to blast through the last 10 lbs I have to lose!

Trying not to compare
Catherine is very smart and she understands a lot of what I say. She babbles like there’s no tomorrow and has some words that she uses all the time. She also has a few signs (sign language).
That being said in total she has 10 words with signs included. I feel like I am failing to teach her how do speak and its hard when I see other children her ago or younger talking up a storm to not compare her.
I spoke with her doctor at her 18 month appointment and she agreed that I should get her in to the early words program before she gets any further behind.
So Monday morning I will be called to get her started. I hope that the combination of the early words program, starting preschool and starting gymnastics will help her start speaking more real words.
I’m hoping to that I am worrying for nothing and that because she is so advanced with her motor skills (she can walk, run, jump, walk and run on her tippy toes, kick a ball and climb almost anything), she just hasn’t had time to work on talking.

Thankful Thursday
I know each of my Thankful Thursdays have been about Catherine, this week will be no exception. After a very sad night at work two nights ago. I can home with an even bigger appreciation for how happy and healthy Catherine is. I thank God everyday for the little miracle that she is. So I am Thankful for her today and everyday!
What are you Thankful for?

Well not so wordless today. Jeff has a new job at Bruce Power! We have known that he has the job for a few weeks, but we were waiting on his security clearance and official start date to start sharing the wonderful news. Well he got both today!

Thankful Thursday
I am thankful this Thursday for a healthy and well adjusted 18 month old. We had her 18 month appointment and she did great and only cried for a second for her vaccine.
